Zenit
FC Zenit Saint Petersburg, with origins tracing to 1914 and playing at the spectacular 67,800-capacity Gazprom Arena on Krestovsky Island since 2017, became a continental power after investment from energy giant Gazprom transformed the club in the 2000s. Under Dutch manager Dick Advocaat and with the brilliant Andrei Arshavin at his peak, Zenit won the Russian Premier League in 2007 and the UEFA Cup in 2008, defeating Rangers 2-0 in Manchester, and then the UEFA Super Cup against Manchester United. The club has since won the Russian Premier League 11 times, including six consecutive titles from 2018/19. Currently excluded from UEFA competitions following the suspension of Russian clubs, Zenit remain the dominant domestic force in Russian football, their sky blue and white colours dominating Saint Petersburg.
