Sporting CP
Sporting Clube de Portugal, founded on July 1, 1906, in Lisbon and playing at the 50,000-capacity Estádio José Alvalade since 2003, is one of the 'Big Three' of Portuguese football and has never been relegated from the Primeira Liga. The club has won 21 Primeira Liga titles, 18 Taça de Portugal, and in 1963-64 became the first Portuguese club to win a European trophy with the Cup Winners' Cup. Sporting's greatest global legacy is their youth academy, which produced Luís Figo (2000 Ballon d'Or) and Cristiano Ronaldo, who made his senior professional debut for the club in 2002. After a 19-year title drought, coach Rúben Amorim delivered the Primeira Liga championship in 2021 in one of Portuguese football's most celebrated moments.
