The Colombia national football team, Los Cafeteros, is governed by the Federación Colombiana de Fútbol and affiliated with FIFA and CONMEBOL. Colombia's golden era came in the 1990s when they were considered one of world football's most exciting teams, featuring legends such as Carlos Valderrama, René Higuita, and Faustino Asprilla. Colombia qualified for three consecutive FIFA World Cups from 1990–1998 and again in 2014, when they reached the quarter-finals with James Rodríguez winning the Golden Boot. They also won the Copa América in 2001. The team plays home matches at the Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Meléndez in Barranquilla and other venues. The current generation features Radamel Falcao, Luis Díaz, and James Rodríguez, continuing Colombia's proud South American footballing tradition.
