The Bangladesh national football team is governed by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), affiliated with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and FIFA. Football is a popular sport in Bangladesh, and the national team competes in AFC qualifiers and SAFF Championship tournaments, representing the South Asian nation. The team plays home matches primarily at the Bashundhara Kings Arena in Dhaka, Bangladesh's main football stadium. While Bangladesh has faced challenges in competing with stronger Asian nations, the team has seen gradual development through investment in grassroots football and youth academies. Historically, the national side has participated in SAFF tournaments, winning the championship in 2003. The squad relies heavily on domestically based players from the Bangladesh Premier League.
