B. Monchengladbach vs St. Pauli

Borussia Monchengladbach eased their relegation fears with a deserved 2-0 victory over St. Pauli at Borussia-Park on Friday night. Kevin Stoger set the tone with a brilliant direct free kick on his 200th Bundesliga appearance, breaking a personal 24-game goalless drought in style. Stoger curled home the opener in the 37th minute to give the Foals a slender half-time lead. Substitute Franck Honorat then sealed the points in the 62nd minute, firing a left-footed strike from 17 metres after a sharp cutback from Joe Scally along the baseline. St. Pauli offered little going forward and rarely troubled the Gladbach defence on a frustrating evening for the visitors. The win lifts Gladbach four points clear of the relegation zone, while St. Pauli remain stuck in the relegation playoff spot with time running out to save their Bundesliga status.
