Marítimo
CS Marítimo is one of Portugal's most recognisable clubs, founded in 1910 in Funchal on the island of Madeira. Playing at the Estádio do Marítimo, with a capacity of around 10,932, the club has been a consistent presence in the Primeira Liga for many decades. Marítimo have never won the top-flight title but have regularly finished in the top half and qualified for European competition, including the UEFA Europa League, where they have reached the group stage. The club is central to Madeiran identity and culture, producing notable players including Ricardo, Portugal's goalkeeper at Euro 2004. Marítimo's maritime heritage is reflected in their name, colours, and deep connection to the island.
