Racing Club was founded on 25 March 1903 in Avellaneda, Buenos Aires province, Argentina. Known as 'La Academia', Racing is one of Argentina's most storied clubs and a member of the traditional 'Big Five'. The team plays its home matches at the Estadio Presidente Peron, known as El Cilindro de Avellaneda, which holds over 51,000 spectators. Racing Club holds the distinction of being the first South American team to win the Intercontinental Cup, defeating Celtic in 1967 after winning the Copa Libertadores that same year. They have won 18 Argentine Primera Division championships. Racing shares the intense Clasico de Avellaneda derby with Independiente. The club has produced legendary Argentine footballers including Reinaldo Merlo and more recently Lisandro Lopez, Lautaro Martinez, and Matias Rojas.
