Club Atletico Platense was founded on 1 October 1905 in the Vicente Lopez municipality of Buenos Aires province, Argentina. Known as 'El Calamar' (The Squid) due to the club's coastal location near the Rio de la Plata, Platense competes in the Argentine Primera Division. The team plays its home matches at the Estadio Ciudad de Vicente Lopez, with a capacity of around 18,000 spectators. Platense has a proud history in Argentine football, having competed in the first division for many decades before suffering relegations. The club returned to the top flight in 2021 and has since stabilized its position. Known for producing quality local talent, Platense boasts a passionate fan base and a strong identity rooted in the northern suburbs of Greater Buenos Aires.
