Match Report
Bologna stunned the Stadio Olimpico with a breathless 4-3 extra-time victory over AS Roma, advancing 5-4 on aggregate in the Europa League Round of 16. Nicolò Cambiaghi's strike in the 111th minute proved the decisive blow in a seven-goal classic.
Jonathan Rowe (22') gave the visitors the lead before Evan Ndicka (32') equalised. Federico Bernardeschi restored Bologna's advantage from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time, and Santiago Castro (58') made it 3-1 on the night. Roma hit back through Donyell Malen (69', penalty) and Lorenzo Pellegrini (80') to force extra time.
With penalties looming, Cambiaghi played a slick give-and-go with Dallinga, drew out keeper Svilar, and clipped the ball inside the near post to send Bologna through.
Bologna now face Aston Villa in the quarter-finals, while Roma's European dream is over — their own fans jeering the players at the final whistle.
