Botafogo vs Grêmio

Botafogo held off a late fightback from Grêmio to win 3-2 at the Estádio Nilton Santos, in a five-goal affair that swung back and forth before the hosts closed it out.

Danilo Santos put Botafogo ahead in the 29th minute, only for Jovane Cabral to level things up six minutes later, becoming the first Cape Verdean player to score for Grêmio. Álvaro Montoro restored the home side's lead just after the break (51'), and Danilo Santos struck again in the 78th minute to make it 3-1. Grêmio pushed back through Gustavo Martins, thrown into defense late on, who pulled one back in the 87th minute, but it proved too little too late.

The win keeps Botafogo firmly on track in this Brasileirão campaign, while Grêmio return from Rio de Janeiro empty-handed and edging uncomfortably close to the relegation zone.
