Match Report

A last-gasp Jordan Barrera equalizer rescued Botafogo a point at MorumBIS, as the visitors clawed back to draw 1-1 with São Paulo in the 17th round of the Brasileirão. São Paulo flew out of the blocks when Luciano opened the scoring in just the third minute, finishing smartly after goalkeeper Neto spilled a rebound following a one-two with Artur. The home side's afternoon was then complicated when Luciano limped off injured at 29 minutes. Botafogo pushed hard in the second half and twice had goals ruled out by VAR — including an Arthur Cabral effort in the 54th — before Barrera finally rifled home from the edge of the box off a corner in the 89th to level. The point leaves both camps frustrated. São Paulo coach Dorival Jr. conceded his side created enough but failed to capitalize, while Botafogo's Franclim Carvalho bluntly stated his team had an obligation to score more.
