RB Bragantino vs Botafogo

Botafogo climbed out of the Brasileirão relegation zone with a hard-fought 2-1 win away to Red Bull Bragantino in Round 8. A towering second-half header from Alexander Barboza proved the difference at Estádio Cícero de Souza Marques. Alex Telles opened the scoring from the penalty spot on seven minutes after VAR confirmed a foul on Tucu Correa. Bragantino hit back quickly through Lucas Barbosa in the 14th minute, and thought they had taken the lead when Henry Mosquera found the net on 20 minutes — only for VAR to chalk it off for offside. The game looked headed for a draw until Barboza rose highest to nod home Danilo's corner in the 70th minute. Goalkeeper Raul then produced two vital late saves to preserve the lead. The result snaps a dire run of form for Botafogo, lifting them to 15th on six points. Bragantino stay 12th on eight points after a frustrating evening at home.
