San Lorenzo had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Deportivo Riestra on matchday 12 of the Apertura, as new manager Gustavo Álvarez's reign got off to a frustrating start at the Estadio Guillermo Laza. Antony Alonso broke the deadlock in the 31st minute for the hosts, latching onto a pass from Juan Randazzo down the right before firing a cross-shot past goalkeeper José Devecchi. San Lorenzo dominated possession but struggled to create clear chances until Alexis Cuello rose to head home from a corner in the 77th minute, salvaging a point. Despite controlling 65% of the ball, San Lorenzo managed just one shot on target all evening. The draw extends their winless league run to five matches — hardly the start Álvarez wanted after replacing the sacked Damián Ayude. For Riestra, the point nudges them to seven from twelve games, but they remain the only side in Zona A without a single victory this season.
