US Lecce vs Genoa CFC

Lecce secured Serie A survival with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Genoa on the final day of the season. The decisive moment arrived just six minutes in, when goalkeeper Leali pushed away a shot from Cheddira, only for Banda to pounce on the rebound and sweep it under the crossbar. Banda's early finish proved the only goal of a tense afternoon. Genoa thought they had levelled when Frendrup netted in the 38th minute, but the goal was ruled out for offside in the build-up. Pierotti then rattled the post with a header in the 67th minute, while Falcone pulled off a sharp save to deny Masini, keeping Lecce's precious lead intact. The victory confirms a fifth consecutive Serie A season for Lecce, a remarkable feat. Genoa, ravaged by nine absentees and forced to hand three players their top-flight debuts, finished 16th with 41 points, safe regardless, but ending the campaign with just one goal across their last four matches.
