Match Report

Feyenoord left it late but got the job done, coming from behind to beat Excelsior 2-1 at De Kuip thanks to a devastating one-minute double from Ayase Ueda. The Japanese striker turned the game on its head with goals in the 58th and 59th minutes after the visitors had frustrated their hosts for over an hour. Arthur Zagré gave Excelsior a shock lead on 28 minutes with a sharp counter-attacking finish, assisted by Stijn van Gassel. Feyenoord huffed and puffed but went in at the break trailing 1-0. Ueda changed everything. Jordan Bos teed him up to equalise, then just sixty seconds later Raheem Sterling provided the assist as Ueda grabbed his 22nd goal of the season to complete the turnaround. The win keeps Feyenoord second in the Eredivisie on 52 points, 16 behind leaders PSV. For Excelsior, stuck in 15th on 26 points, the relegation battle only intensifies.
