Tahiti
The Tahiti national football team represents French Polynesia and competes under the Fédération Tahitienne de Football, affiliated with FIFA and the OFC (Oceania Football Confederation). Tahiti gained global recognition when they qualified for the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil, their greatest achievement in international football. Although they were defeated in all three group-stage matches, the tournament gave Tahitian football unprecedented exposure. The team has won the OFC Nations Cup and regularly participates in World Cup qualifying within the Oceanian region. Their matches are played at the Stade Pater in Faa'a. Football is widely popular across the islands of French Polynesia, and the federation works to develop the sport at youth level to strengthen future national squads.
