SK Slovan Bratislava
SK Slovan Bratislava is Slovakia's most decorated and historically significant football club, founded in 1919 in the capital Bratislava. The club holds a unique distinction as the only Czechoslovak club ever to win a European trophy, lifting the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1969 after defeating Barcelona 3-2 in the final. Slovan has won more than 20 Slovak Super Liga titles and numerous Slovak Cup trophies, cementing their status as the country's dominant club. The club plays home matches at the Štadión Tehelné pole, a modern 22,500-seat arena. In recent seasons Slovan has become a regular participant in UEFA group stages, including UEFA Champions League campaigns, bringing high-level European football back to Bratislava. Notable alumni include Ján Popluhár and Peter Dubovský.
