Saudi Arabia
The Saudi Arabia national football team, known as the Green Falcons, is one of the most successful sides in Asian football. Governed by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, the team has qualified for the FIFA World Cup six times, most recently in 2022, where they produced one of the tournament's greatest upsets by defeating eventual champions Argentina 2-1 in the group stage. Saudi Arabia has won the AFC Asian Cup three times (1984, 1988, 1996) and reached the FIFA World Cup second round in 1994. Legendary figures include goalkeeper Mohamed Al-Deayea and striker Sami Al-Jaber. In recent years, the Saudi Pro League's transformation through major investment has elevated domestic football, with international stars joining Saudi clubs and strengthening the national programme.
