Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough FC, founded in 1876, is based in Middlesbrough in the Teesside region of northeast England. Competing in the Championship, the club plays at the Riverside Stadium, a modern 34,000-capacity ground that opened in 1995 along the banks of the River Tees. Known as Boro, Middlesbrough won the League Cup in 2004 under Steve McClaren and famously reached the UEFA Cup Final in 2006, losing to Sevilla in Eindhoven. The club has produced notable players including Juninho, Fabrizio Ravanelli, and Gareth Southgate. After yo-yoing between the Premier League and Championship, Middlesbrough continue their push for promotion under ambitious ownership, playing a direct, high-tempo style that reflects the gritty, industrial spirit of the Teesside community they represent.
