Deportivo Cuenca
Deportivo Cuenca, formally known as Club Deportivo Cuenca, was founded in 1971 in the highland city of Cuenca, Ecuador's third-largest urban centre. The club competes in the Liga Pro, Ecuador's top professional division, and has also featured in the Copa Sudamericana. Their home ground is the Estadio Alejandro Serrano Aguilar Banco del Austro, which holds approximately 22,830 spectators. Known affectionately as El Expreso Austral, Cuenca has been a consistent presence in Ecuadorian football without claiming a national championship, making them a perennial mid-table club with passionate local support. The stadium, opened in the 1990s, is among the most modern in Ecuador. The club has produced several players who have gone on to represent the national team and compete abroad in South American leagues.
