CSKA Moscow
PFC CSKA Moscow, with roots tracing to a 1911 military sports society in Moscow and playing at the striking VEB Arena (30,000 capacity) since 2016, is Russia's most successful club in the post-2000 era and the only Russian side to have won a UEFA competition — the 2005 UEFA Cup, defeating Sporting CP 3-1 in Lisbon. The club won five Soviet Top League titles between 1945 and 1951 and has accumulated more Russian Premier League and Cup titles than any club since 2000. Known for their red and blue colours and equine identity — derived from their stadium's former racecourse site — CSKA's academy produced goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev, who served as both club and national team captain across his distinguished career.
