Cerro Porteño
Cerro Porteno, founded in 1912 in Asuncion, Paraguay, is one of the country's most popular and successful football clubs. Known as El Ciclon del Barrio Obrero, the club plays its home matches at La Nueva Olla stadium, with a capacity of around 45,000. Cerro has won the Paraguayan Primera Division title over 30 times, making them one of the most decorated clubs in the country alongside Olimpia. The club has competed regularly in the CONMEBOL Libertadores, reaching the semi-finals on multiple occasions. Cerro Porteno has a strong tradition of developing Paraguayan talent and has produced players who have gone on to represent the national team. The club enjoys fierce rivalries, most notably with Olimpia, in one of South America's most passionate local derbies.
