The Botswana national football team, nicknamed the Zebras, has represented the southern African nation in international football since the Botswana Football Association was established in 1970 and affiliated with FIFA and CAF. Competing primarily in AFCON qualifying rounds and COSAFA tournaments, Botswana has gradually developed as a footballing nation. Their most celebrated achievement was qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2012, their first and to date only AFCON appearance. The team plays home matches at the National Stadium in Gaborone, the country's capital. Notable players include Mogogi Gabonamong and Jerome Ramatlhakwane, who represented the country in continental competition. The BFA has invested in youth development and infrastructure to raise the standard of football across the country.
