AS Saint-Étienne
AS Saint-Étienne, founded in 1920 and based in Saint-Étienne, France, is one of the most storied clubs in French football history. The club plays its home matches at the iconic Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, nicknamed "Le Chaudron" (The Cauldron), which holds 41,965 spectators. Les Verts are the most successful club in French league history, having won a record ten Ligue 1 titles, predominantly during their legendary 1960s and 1970s golden era. They also reached the 1976 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup Final. Iconic players such as Michel Platini, Salif Keïta, and Hervé Revelli wore the famous green jersey. After years of financial struggles, Saint-Étienne were relegated to Ligue 2 in 2022 but won promotion back to Ligue 1 in 2024, beginning a new chapter in the club's proud history.
