Portsmouth
Portsmouth Football Club was founded in 1898 in Portsmouth, Hampshire, on England's south coast. Nicknamed 'Pompey', the club plays at Fratton Park, one of England's oldest and most atmospheric football grounds. Portsmouth enjoyed their greatest era in the 2000s, winning back-to-back First Division titles in 1949 and 1950, and sensationally lifting the FA Cup in 2008. The club suffered financial collapse and a dramatic fall through the divisions but made a remarkable comeback, returning to the Championship in recent years.
