Santos

Santos Futebol Clube, founded on April 14, 1912, in the São Paulo coastal port city of Santos and playing at the intimate, historic Vila Belmiro stadium (capacity ~20,000), achieved legendary status in the 1960s with the club built around Pelé — who joined at 15 and scored over 600 official goals during an 18-year stay. The 'Os Santásticos' side won five consecutive Campeonato Brasileiro titles (1961-65), two Copa Libertadores (1962, 1963), and two Intercontinental Cups, touring internationally as Brazil's unofficial football ambassadors. After Pelé's era, the club produced Robinho and Neymar Jr., the latter inspiring a third Copa Libertadores title in 2011. Santos suffered historic relegation to Série B for the first time in 2023 but immediately won the 2024 Série B title to return to the top flight, aided by Neymar's loan return.
