Fluminense

Fluminense Football Club, founded on July 21, 1902, in Rio de Janeiro by Oscar Cox and considered Brazil's first club to include 'football' in its name, plays its biggest matches at the iconic Maracanã Stadium and maintains its historic Estádio das Laranjeiras as a spiritual home. The club won four Campeonato Brasileiro titles (1970, 1984, 2010, 2012) and 33 Campeonato Carioca crowns, and in 2023 achieved the crowning achievement of the modern era by winning their first Copa Libertadores, defeating Boca Juniors 2-1 at the Maracanã under the bold attacking management of Fernando Diniz. The International Olympic Committee recognised Fluminense with the Olympic Cup in 1949 as the world's most complete sports institution. The Fla-Flu derby against Flamengo holds the official world record for the highest attendance at a club football fixture with nearly 200,000 spectators in 1963.
