Barbados
The Barbados national football team is governed by the Barbados Football Association (BFA), a member of CONCACAF and FIFA. The team competes in CONCACAF qualifying tournaments including FIFA World Cup and Gold Cup preliminaries, representing the small Caribbean island nation. Barbados gained international notoriety in 1994 for the infamous "Barbados vs Grenada" CONCACAF qualifying match, in which the peculiar rules led Barbados to intentionally score an own goal — one of football's strangest moments. The squad is composed of locally based talent as well as diaspora players. Home matches are played at the National Stadium in Bridgetown. While major tournament success has been limited, Barbados continues to develop its football through youth programmes and regional competition, with growing ambitions in Caribbean football.
