Velez Sarsfield

Club Atletico Velez Sarsfield was founded in 1910 in the Liniers neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Nicknamed 'El Fortin' (The Fortress), the club competes in the Argentine Primera Division and plays its home matches at the Estadio Jose Amalfitani, which holds around 49,000 spectators. Velez is one of Argentina's most successful clubs, having won ten Primera Division titles, as well as the Copa Libertadores in 1994 and the Intercontinental Cup the same year, defeating AC Milan. The club is renowned for its excellent youth academy and for producing top talents. Among its most celebrated alumni are Roberto Trotta, Carlos Bianchi, and more recently Mauro Zarate and Rodrigo De Paul, who went on to star at the 2022 World Cup with Argentina.
