The Switzerland national football team, governed by the Swiss Football Association (ASF/SFV) and nicknamed the Nati, has established itself as one of Europe's most consistent and underrated sides. Switzerland co-hosted the 1954 FIFA World Cup and has qualified for numerous subsequent World Cup finals and European Championships. Their best recent performances include reaching the UEFA Euro 2020 quarter-finals (defeating world champions France on penalties) and consecutive FIFA World Cup round-of-sixteen appearances.
