Deportivo Alavés
Deportivo Alaves is a Spanish football club founded in 1921 in Vitoria-Gasteiz, the capital of the Basque Country in northern Spain. The club plays at Mendizorrotza Stadium and competes in La Liga. Nicknamed 'El Glorioso' (The Glorious), Alaves gained international fame by reaching the UEFA Cup Final in 2001, losing dramatically 5-4 to Liverpool in one of the competition's most memorable finals. Though they have spent periods in the lower divisions, Alaves have re-established themselves in La Liga. Known for their Basque identity and passionate support, the club plays a compact and organised style of football. Their tight-knit community ties and fierce local pride make them one of Spain's most distinctive clubs.
