Rangers
Rangers Football Club, founded in 1872 by four teenage friends in Glasgow and one of the oldest clubs in world football, plays at Ibrox Stadium in the Ibrox district (50,987 capacity). The club has won the Scottish league championship a joint-record 55 times, the Scottish Cup 34 times, and the League Cup a record 28 times — a total of 116 major honours. Their greatest European achievement was the 1972 European Cup Winners' Cup, defeating Dynamo Moscow 3-2 in Barcelona. After a catastrophic financial collapse in 2012 that forced them to reform and fight back through the lower divisions, Rangers famously ended Celtic's bid for 10 consecutive titles by winning the 2020-21 Premiership unbeaten. All-time record scorer Ally McCoist (355 goals) and record appearance holder John Greig remain the club's defining legends.
