Al Gharafa SC is one of Qatar's most successful and popular football clubs, founded in 1979 in Al Rayyan. Al Gharafa have won the Qatar Stars League multiple times and are regular participants in the AFC Champions League, where they have reached advanced stages of the competition. The club has attracted several international stars over the years, including former Spanish international David Villa, who played for them in 2014.
