Al Gharafa SC is one of Qatar's most successful and popular football clubs, founded in 1979 in Al Rayyan. The club plays at the Thani Bin Jassim Stadium, also known as Al-Gharafah Stadium, with a capacity of around 24,826 spectators. Al Gharafa have won the Qatar Stars League multiple times and are regular participants in the AFC Champions League, where they have reached advanced stages of the competition. The club has attracted several international stars over the years, including former Spanish international David Villa, who played for them in 2014. Al Gharafa is known for its passionate fanbase and strong youth academy, making them a cornerstone of Qatari club football.
