Het nationaal voetbalelftal van Nigeria, populair bekend als de Super Eagles, is een van Afrika's meest succesvolle en gerenommeerde ploegen. Opgericht in 1945 won Nigeria de Africa Cup of Nations driemaal (1980, 1994, 2013) en plaatste zich zes keer voor het WK met een beste resultaat in de achtste finale. Op de Olympische Spelen in Atlanta in 1996 veroverde het goud op spectaculaire wijze. Legendarische spelers zijn Jay-Jay Okocha, Rashidi Yekini, Nwankwo Kanu en recentelijk Victor Osimhen. De Super Eagles spelen thuiswedstrijden in het Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja en blijven een dominante kracht in het Afrikaanse voetbal.
