The Niger national football team, nicknamed Les Menas, is governed by the Federation Nigerienne de Football and is a member of both FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Niger has participated in Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaigns for decades, breaking through to qualify for the 2012 and 2013 AFCON tournaments, their first and only appearances to date. The team has drawn on a mix of domestically based players and diaspora talent competing in European leagues, particularly in France. Home matches are typically held at the Stade General Seyni Kountche in Niamey, capacity around 10,000. Niger continues to develop youth football infrastructure as part of its effort to make a consistent impact on the continental stage.
