Guadalajara

Club Deportivo Guadalajara, universally known as Chivas (The Goats), was founded in 1906 in the city of Guadalajara in Jalisco and is uniquely distinguished by a decades-long policy of fielding only Mexican-born players of Mexican descent — a rule that makes every triumph a purely national achievement. The club plays at the purpose-built Estadio Akron in Zapopan (capacity 49,813), opened in 2010. Chivas have won 12 Liga MX titles and two CONCACAF Champions League crowns (1962, 2018), and produced Mexico's all-time leading international scorer Javier 'Chicharito' Hernández from their academy. Their fierce rivalry with Club América — El Súper Clásico — is the most-watched football match in Mexico and ranks among the great derbies in global football.
