América
Club de Fútbol América, founded on October 12, 1916, is the most successful club in Mexican football history with a record 14 Liga MX titles and a distinguished CONCACAF record. The club plays at the iconic Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, the largest stadium in Latin America (capacity ~87,000) and the only venue to have hosted two FIFA World Cup finals (1970, 1986). Backed by media giant Televisa since 1959, América are Mexico's most commercially visible club, wearing distinctive yellow and blue and inspiring a polarising rivalry known as El Súper Clásico against Guadalajara. Legendary players include the flamboyant Cuauhtémoc Blanco, while Henry Martín and Giovani dos Santos represent the modern era of this nationally dominant institution.
