Torino
Torino Football Club, founded on December 3, 1906, in Turin and playing at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino — renamed in 2016 as a permanent tribute to the club's greatest era — is defined above all by the tragic and heroic legacy of the Grande Torino side that won five consecutive Serie A titles from 1943 to 1949. On May 4, 1949, a plane crash at the Basilica di Superga killed the entire first-team squad of 18 players, including the legendary captain Valentino Mazzola — a catastrophe that remains one of football's most devastating events. The club recovered to win a seventh and final Scudetto in 1975-76 and holds five Coppa Italia titles. Dressed in their famous granata (dark red) shirts, the Toro compete consistently in Serie A, their supporters carrying a unique burden of history and pride.
