Match Report
Teenager Julian Hall stole the show as New York Red Bulls thumped FC Cincinnati 4-2 at home on Saturday night. The 18-year-old homegrown star opened the scoring in the 12th minute, converting a Cade Cowell counter-attack cross for his fifth goal of the season.
Pavel Bucha equalized for the visitors in the 17th minute, but Emil Forsberg restored the lead with a free kick that ricocheted off the crossbar and in (48'). A Kyle Smith own goal on 66 minutes made it 3-1 before Smith made partial amends by scoring at the right end six minutes later.
Mohammed Sofo sealed the deal with a cool finish deep in stoppage time (90+3'), and Cincinnati's miserable evening was capped off when Alvas Powell saw a straight red card in added time.
The victory snaps a three-game winless streak for the Red Bulls (3-2-1), while FC Cincinnati (2-4-0) have now lost four of their opening six matches this season.
