Coventry City vs Aston Villa

Aston Villa made light work of Coventry City in the Carabao Cup third round, cruising to a 3-1 win on the road thanks to a two-goal night from Tammy Abraham. His early strike set the tone, and Villa never really looked troubled after that. Abraham opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a close-range finish before Victor Torp briefly leveled things for the hosts with a superb direct free-kick in the 27th. Ross Barkley headed Villa back in front from a corner right before the break (40'), and Abraham wrapped up his brace in the 59th minute, converting another corner from close range. A handful of yellow cards were dished out, including to Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Barkley, but neither side finished with ten men. It's a routine step forward for Villa, who rotated their squad and still had enough class to see the job through comfortably. For Coventry, Torp's moment of quality offered a spark, but their cup run ends here against sterner opposition.
