Match Preview

This MTN8 semi-final second leg at Orlando Amstel Arena caps a big week for both clubs. Orlando Pirates, reigning Betway Premiership champions and currently top of the table, are chasing an unprecedented fifth straight MTN8 title. Sekhukhune United, back in the semis for a second straight year, are chasing a first-ever final. Pirates opened the season well, beating Chippa United 3-0 with goals from Ghampani Lunga, Lebone Seema and Daniel Msendami, after a win over Milford and a draw with AmaZulu. Sekhukhune needed extra time to see off AmaZulu in the quarter-final, Vuyo Letlapa scoring a 97th-minute winner in a wild 4-3 thriller. The sides last met in the 2023 MTN8 quarter-finals, when Pirates won 5-0 with a Zakhele Lepasa hat-trick. A league fixture squeezed between the two legs adds fatigue into the mix for both squads. Our prediction: 2-1
