Newcastle came from behind to beat West Brom 3-2 at St. James' Park in a lively Carabao Cup second-round tie, with Harvey Barnes stealing the show as the game swung back and forth in the second half.
Isaac Price put the visitors ahead in the 19th minute, only for Bazoumana Touré to level things up just before the break, assisted by Amar Dedic. Barnes put Newcastle in front three minutes into the second half, but Price restored parity from the penalty spot in the 77th minute. Barnes then struck again in the 81st minute, this time teed up by Dedic, to settle it.
It's a solid step forward for Newcastle, who showed the resilience to overturn two separate West Brom leads and keep their cup run alive. For West Brom, it's a case of what might have been, with Price's brace not enough to avoid an early cup exit against top-flight opposition.
