FK Kauno Žalgiris vs GNK Dinamo Zagreb

Dinamo Zagreb completed a routine job in Kaunas, winning 1-2 despite finishing the match with ten men to book a crushing 7-1 aggregate victory over Kauno Žalgiris in their Champions League qualifier. The Croatian champions were already cruising by the interval, leaving the hosts with an even bigger mountain to climb in the second leg. Lukas Kačavenda opened the scoring in the 19th minute, finishing off an assist from Dion Drena Beljo, before Josip Mišić doubled the lead in the 30th. Things got trickier for the visitors when defender Ivan Filipović was sent off shortly after, forcing Dinamo to see out the remainder with ten men. Žalgiris got a consolation through substitute-turned-scorer Gabriel Debeljuh in the 56th minute, but it was never going to be enough. For Dinamo Zagreb, the result extends an unbeaten run and sends them through to the next qualifying round with plenty of confidence, red card notwithstanding. For Kauno Žalgiris, the European adventure ends here, but reaching the third qualifying round remains a solid achievement for the Lithuanian side.
