Match Report
Arsenal made a statement in the Community Shield, thrashing Manchester City 3-0 at Principality Stadium. The tone was set inside the first minute, when Riccardo Calafiori slotted home barely 23 seconds after kickoff from a delightful pass by Myles Lewis-Skelly, one of the fastest goals in the fixture's history.
Arsenal doubled the lead through Kai Havertz in the 28th minute, his header deflecting in off Gianluigi Donnarumma's hands. Just after the break, Martin Ødegaard danced past Josko Gvardiol, sold Donnarumma a dummy, and rolled in a third. Debutant Christos Tzolis impressed with two assists, while David Raya denied Erling Haaland and Ben White cleared off the line from Jeremy Doku.
The result is a big early marker for Arsenal, carrying momentum into the new season. For Manchester City, it was a rough start for Enzo Maresca in his first game since replacing Pep Guardiola, exposing defensive issues before the league opener.
