Al-Ittihad made a statement in Abu Dhabi, thumping Al Jazira 4-1 to move closer to the AFC Champions League Elite league stage. The standout moment came from Steven Bergwijn, whose first-half brace put the Saudi side firmly in control.
Bergwijn struck in the 12th and 38th minutes, Houssem Aouar added a third in the 54th, and Marwan Al-Sahafi made it four in the 69th. Simon Banza pulled one back for the hosts in the 80th minute, but yellow cards for both sides were as dramatic as it got — no reds, no penalties.
