Sint-Truiden vs La Louvière

St. Truiden delivered a statement performance on the centenary of their Stayen stadium, brushing aside RAAL La Louvière 4-0 in a one-sided Pro League clash. It was exactly the response the Kanaries needed after a heavy 3-0 defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise the week before, and this time they were dominant from start to finish. Ryan Merlen opened the scoring in the 39th minute, finishing well after a assist from Kaito Matsuzawa. Robert-Jan Vanwesemael doubled the lead early in the second half with a first-time volley off Merlen's cross in the 54th minute, before Samed Bazdar took over, heading home a flicked corner from Abdoulaye Sissako in the 73rd minute and adding a second just six minutes later, again set up by Matsuzawa. Bazdar was withdrawn to applause in the 85th minute, while Nathanaël Mbuku made his debut for the club. La Louvière offered little going forward all afternoon. The result lifts St. Truiden to 8 points and 7th place, while RAAL La Louvière remain rooted to the bottom of the table with just 1 point from five games, still searching for their first win of the season.
