Match Preview

There's history and pride on the line at Stade Joseph Marien. Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, the reigning Belgian Cup holders who thrashed Anderlecht 5-1 in last season's title playoffs, currently sit sixth with four points from two games. Anderlecht, rebuilding under new coach Vítor Bruno, are ninth with three points and eager to open on the front foot against their old rivals. Union have been solid rather than spectacular domestically - a 3-0 win over Standard Liège followed by a 0-0 draw with Zulte Waregem - though they were eliminated from Champions League qualifying by Bodø/Glimt, 6-5 on aggregate, and drop into the Europa League. Anderlecht opened with a 2-1 win over RAAL La Louvière. Watch Promise David, Union's leading scorer, and young Serbian forward Mihajlo Cvetković up front for Anderlecht. Recent meetings have gone almost entirely Union's way, including that playoff mauling and a Cup final win back in May. Our prediction: 2-1
