KRC Genk vs SK Beveren

Genk put last week's late collapse against Antwerp firmly behind them with a ruthless 4-0 victory over Beveren at Cegeka Arena. The home side were in control from the first whistle, playing an excellent opening half and creating chance after chance while barely allowing their visitors a sniff at goal. The breakthrough came in the 9th minute when Rafiu Durosinmi converted a VAR-awarded penalty following a foul in the box. Junya Ito doubled the lead in the 19th minute, before Josue Ndenge Kongolo added a third right on the stroke of half-time. Joris Kayembe completed the rout in the 74th minute, with both Ito and substitute Bibout also rattling the woodwork. For Genk, the response was exactly what coach Jess Thorup demanded, stretching their goal tally to 12 in four matches ahead of tough tests against Anderlecht, Gent and Club Brugge. Beveren, meanwhile, suffered their second straight 4-0 defeat and remain without an away win this season.
