Royal Antwerp opened their Pro League campaign with a dramatic comeback, coming from behind to beat SK Beveren 2-1 thanks to a stunning late overhead kick from Michael Frey. Beveren struck first when Chris Lokesa lobbed the keeper in the 29th minute to give the promoted side a deserved lead. Frey hauled Antwerp level in the 62nd minute with a scrappy finish after winning the ball back in midfield, then produced real magic in the 86th minute, an acrobatic volley that Beveren simply couldn't answer. No red cards or penalties were shown, though the closing stages grew feisty with yellow cards for both sides. The loss ended Beveren's remarkable unbeaten run stretching back to early 2025 and cost the newly promoted side a first-ever top-flight win under new boss Tim Bakens, even if their display hinted they'll trouble plenty of teams this season.
